North Sea Link interconnector enters commercial operation (UK–Norway, 1.4 GW)

North Sea Link (NSL), a 1,400 MW HVDC interconnector between Blyth (GB) and Kvilldal (NO), commenced commercial operations on 1 October 2021 — the world's longest subsea power cable at the time (720 km). Provides UK access to Norwegian hydro reservoirs as balancing capacity.
