Underwater explosions ruptured three of four Nord Stream pipeline strings in Danish and Swedish EEZs on 26 Sep 2022. Released ~115,000 tonnes of methane. Ended any near-term option to restore Russian pipeline gas to NW Europe. Investigations remain open as of 2026.
