UK becomes first major economy to legislate net zero by 2050

The Climate Change Act 2008 (2050 Target Amendment) Order 2019 came into force 27 Jun 2019, replacing the 80% reduction target with a net-zero greenhouse-gas target by 2050. Followed Committee on Climate Change advice. Triggered the Net Zero Strategy 2021 and Sixth Carbon Budget.
